Get Set to Jet Set –
Monte Carlo Awaits

divider pattern

In tales of glamour and excess, Monte-Carlo is often the setting. Who doesn’t remember Grace Kelly and Cary Grant serpentining through the Monte-Carlo roads in the spiffy Sunbeam Alpine convertible in ‘To Catch a Thief?’ Or James Bond (Sean Connery or Pierce Brosnan) wining, dining, and fighting his way through the casinos and streets of this dazzling locale?

Real-Time Retreats - Get Set to Jet Set – Monte Carlo Awaits

Cathleen Kelley and Stella Cruz Ortiz (with a special message from Mr. Louis Starck, the Hotel Hermitage Monte-Carlo) will whisk us away to Monte-Carlo so we can experience their stunning hotel group, Monte-Carlo SBM / Société des Bains de Mer!

What to wear, darlings? This week, there is no fur too far, no glitz too glitzy, no glam too gaudy. We’re going to Monte Carlo, lovelies, so bring out your best!

Plus, darlings, the first five after 12:55 to log into the call (no earlier than 12:55 PM, please) will win an early bird gift.

And as an added bonus, each week we’ll award a planner who goes “all in” a special gift from Kelly McAlister with Maui Jim.

Read on to find out how Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer has prepared for these wonderful reunions in their hotels, restaurants and casinos: we bet that every single experience will feel like new, and even more beautiful than before.

We’ll be hearing about the four stunning hotels in the SBM family. Click on each logo below to be taken directly to each property’s site. (Oh, and remember to breathe... because these places will take your breath away!)

A SAFE EXPERIENCE? YOU BET.

They are one of the most iconic parts of Monaco’s identity: and the Casino de Monte-Carlo and Casino Café de Paris are up and running again, welcoming players since June.

Visitors’ health will of course remain the number-one priority. At the entrance to the casinos, visitors will be asked to briefly lower their masks for a security check to be carried out. Clients will then follow a specially redesigned route through the tables, machines and gaming rooms, and the number of players permitted inside each establishment will be limited to make social distancing as easy as possible.

MONTE-CARLO BAYTINI

The idea was to bring two cocktails together to represent the exoticism and elegance of the Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort. For exoticism, Kaffir lime and passion fruit – ingredients from their chef, Marcel Ravin. For elegance, Champagne. The cocktail gives an unexpected burst of flavour in the mouth; it is the perfect balance of strength and sweetness.

Ingredients

  • 3 oz coconut cream
  • 1.5 oz fresh cream
  • 1.5 oz rum infused with Kaffir lime leaves
  • 3/4 oz maple syrup
  • 3/4 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 1 passion fruit
  • 1 oz Champagne
  • Timut pepper

In the shaker/for 1 serving:
Add rum (infused beforehand with Kaffir lime leaves)
Maple syrup
Fresh lemon juice
Passion fruit
Shake everything to combine, then pour into the glass through a little bar strainer to filter.
Add Champagne
Finally, grind one twist of the pepper mill (Timut pepper) over the glass.

GET SET TO JET SET. OR JET SKI.

In Monaco, there’s always fun to be had no matter the season. And while the Principality has plenty of activities all year round, the summer season still lends itself more to the adventurous spirit. Whether you’re looking for someplace to eat, walk, explore or swim, you’ll find a multitude of activities to enjoy under the Monaco sun. For a taste of what’s to come, here is a selection of activities to whet your appetite.

Bordered by the Mediterranean Sea, the Principality of Monaco places a premium on water-based activities. A sandy-bottom lagoon, Balinese-style beds, floating breakfast, the Sea Bay area… Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort offers plenty of activities for a relaxing day or weekend by the water, each one more soothing than the last.

As for Monte-Carlo Beach, the ultimate summer hotel, its Olympic-sized heated seawater swimming pool is a Monegasque icon. Take a moment to unwind with family or friends, while admiring the divers. At Les Cabanas, you’ll enjoy exclusive services and the cosiness of a private beach. The word “relaxation” is not to be taken lightly here!

Lastly, guests at the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo will have exclusive access to the sunbeds and cabanas of the Wellness Sky Club, a luxurious wellness oasis on the hotel’s rooftop terrace, with a private pool and a unique view of the harbour and the old city...

SWING, SWING, SWING IN YOUR BLING, BLING, BLING.

Everyone knows about Monaco’s casinos, Michelin-starred restaurants and celebrated monuments, but let’s also not forget that the country has made a name for itself as a destination of choice for clubbers. This summer will be no exception, as their bars are ready to bring you the very best that Monegasque nightlife has to offer.

Revisit your classic chill-outs and world music favourites at Buddha-Bar Monte-Carlo, while enjoying a nuanced menu filled with Eastern and Western influences. For a change of scenery, look no further than COYA Monte-Carlo. The restaurant has added a number of bold and delicious options to its menu this summer, in the same style as the vibrant, fusion cuisine that has made it a big hit for two years running. The restaurant also owes its success to its live electro sets, which radiate (good) vibes until the break of dawn.

Not far from here, at the Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort, the Blue Gin bar is the perfect spot to enjoy a signature cocktail on an expansive terrace, with a superb view of the Mediterranean Sea. And at the same resort, an enchanting lagoon will provide a magical ambience to add color to your weekends, with a DJ and a magician to entertain parents, children...and anyone who’s still a child at heart!
