Just the mention of the word ‘Caribbean’ conjures images of dazzling white sands, azure waves and swaying emerald palms.
Don your chi-chi resort wear, straw hat (also the name of a Caribbean cocktail that packs quite a punch), or visit the spa, why don’t you? Perhaps you’ll be sea-faring and wear your best first-mate outfit? Or maybe you’re a bartender, full of smiles and stories of the islands? We’ll leave it up to you!
The first five after 3:55 to log into the call (no earlier than 3:55pm, please) will win an early bird gift.
And as an added bonus, each week we’ll award a planner who goes “all in” a special gift from Kelly McAlister with Maui Jim.
One of the many things I love about Belmond is that it is a small brand of 48 hotels, trains and river cruises offering the highest level of luxury in the world. To be able to share this aspirational level of luxury to clients for their incentives and group needs is beyond extraordinary. Both Belmond La Samanna and Belmond Cap Juluca are iconic resorts in unique Caribbean islands of St. Martin and Anguilla offering pure escapism and luxury.
What do I do for fun? I’m a lover of all things music and the arts/cultural events. I’m a voracious reader. I enjoy cooking healthful meals and vegan baking. I practice yoga every single day. I also fit in Orange Theory Fitness six days a week. Having grown up in Key West, I’m an island child at heart but I love city living.
Belmond Cap Juluca
Come walk on the white sand beaches of the Caribbean, where serenity sweeps in with the tides. Let’s start, darlings, with Belmond Cap Juluca, a dream-like escape, spread across the Caribbean’s most beautiful beach. Feel the breeze blowing across your private terrace. Every room is a beachfront haven. Be positioned to discover an island famed for pristine sands, broad coral reefs and an unmissable culinary scene. Or simply breathe the sea air, relax, and let the hours float by.
A Feast for the Senses
Step into a private island paradise, where slow living meets high style. Pristine white walls and Greco-Moorish columns perfectly frame the bright blue beyond. Sip a cocktail on your sun-dappled terrace, or retreat through the elegant louvered plantation shutters and sink into a plush king bed. From the enchanting wildflowers that line the paths to the dazzling platinum sands of the private beach, every detail will take your breath away.
Anguilla covers only 35 square miles of land, but hosts endless opportunities for discovery. Most notably, this small island boasts some of the best beaches in the world.
Venture off to discover Shoal Bay. Found on the northern tip of the island, the unspoilt white sands look across towards the endless blue of the Atlantic Ocean.
For a taste of the local lifestyle, opt for Sandy Ground. This small town combines the buzz of Anguillan life, including colourful bars and inviting restaurants, with golden sands and gently bobbing sailboats.
Maunday’s Bay, home to Belmond Cap Juluca, is equally stunning and offers a true sense of exclusivity.
THE BELMOND 75 COCKTAIL
The French 75 boasts a starry history, both on the silver screen and within the world’s most legendary bars. While its origins are shrouded in mystery, it has worn many hats to fit our different moods in its lifetime. From the tonic that soothed to the sparkling drink that incites debauchery, it’s the perfect cocktail of its time. Whenever that time may be.
Fill a shaker half full with broken ice and add:
- 1 oz vodka
- 1.5 oz pineapple juice
- 0.5 oz Chambord liqueur (raspberry liquor or juice is also fine)
Shake well and strain into a cocktail glass. Top with Champagne and garnish with an orange twist.
Belmond La Samanna
Perched beside one of the most spectacular private beaches in the French West Indies, Belmond La Samanna is as dazzling as the crystal clear waters that lap the sand. Sink into a chic suite, designed to reflect the hypnotic shapes and colors of sea life. Then dress to impress and sample the world-class restaurants, before diving into the island’s vibrant social scene.
Cuisine and Be Seen
A tropical paradise where you can hop from relaxed alfresco lunches to sophisticated fine dining, Belmond La Samanna boasts some of the best restaurants in St. Martin. Dine on the freshest local catch at breezy L’Oursin Restaurant, or sample rare vintages in the candlelit coziness of La Cave. Belmond La Samanna’s culinary adventures will whisk you into island life.
Can’t get to Anguilla anytime soon? We understand. Bring a taste of the islands to your own home with this tasty and refreshing recipe.
