 About Us

Carol Owen

Founder and President

Retreats Resources is the culmination of Carol's long career in the travel industry. Having had the opportunity to design, promote and manage group travel very early in her travel agency career as Business Development Director at Richs Travel, Carol had the unique chance to work alongside merchandising experts at retailing giants Burdines and Richs, developing in-house tour products and joint promotions involving fashion, food, art and sports, aspects of life she embraces to this day!

Using her creative talent and experience in group travel seemed to provide a natural transition to the world of incentive travel, where Carol founded and managed the boutique incentive house, tour de force, for nearly 20 years. Specializing in the telecommunications and cable television industries, tour de force designed award winning incentive travel programs for the former Bellsouth, Cox Communications, Time Warner, The Disney Channel, HBO and many others. They specialized in creating and managing effective employee recognition programs for both sales and non-sales organizations; a case study on a program they developed for Cox Communications lives on to this day in the "first-ever" text book on incentive travel, and Carol and her client became subject matter experts, speaking on this topic at industry events around the world.

A member of SITE for over 30 years, Carol has chaired committees, facilitated workshops, sat on panels and developed educational content for this prestigious industry association and their global events. She is a proud founding board member of SITE Southeast, and served as president of that organization in 2010/2011.

Carol's proudest achievement, other than her beautiful family – son, daughter, their partners, and 5 grandchildren- is her role in discovering and cultivating a long relationship with CNN "Hero", Doc Hendley and his organization, Wine to Water. Bringing safe drinking water solutions to communities in need around the world, Wine to Water has been the beneficiary of the fundraising efforts of both Site Southeast and Retreats Resources since 2009.

Whitney Bradley

Director of Business Development & Marketing

Whitney brings a wealth of talent and experience to Retreats Resources, from twenty years of corporate event planning and marketing consultation and strategy to television production, web design, copywriting, public relations, graphic design and social media. Her event clients include Verizon, Daimler Chrysler/Mercedes, Michelin, BMW Manufacturing Corporation, First Robotics, Bi-Lo grocery stores, BMW Motorrad, Homepoint (Music City) Bowl, and many others.

Her eight years on and behind the stage provided a great knowledge base for event and show production, and she's surprised at how often she draws on that experience. She was a television host for a sports show on the College Sports Southeast network as well as a radio personality for the Clemson Sports Network for seven seasons, so it's safe to say she can talk sports as adeptly as HTML.

Whitney's a TED.com junkie and is heavily involved with TEDxGreenville, performing the role of salon curator for the monthly conferences. She was Executive Director of The International Center of the Upstate for four years, where she helped develop a month-long cultural celebration containing over 100 unique events. And in her "spare" time, she is a singer/songwriter who loves to perform soul music, R&B, jazz, funk, and Motown with her band, Groove Planet. She's the mother of two sweet and talented daughters, Avery and Sutton, and got married in 2015 to her wonderful, brilliant husband, John.
